Programs of Study
The Women's
Studies Graduate Program offers:
In
conjunction with another graduate program, students
must take Women’s Studies 201, 202, and 210 (12 units of 200-level
courses) and submit a Women’s Studies-related major research paper for
approval by the Chair of the Graduate Committee. These requirements for
the Women’s Studies Concentration are in addition to requirements of
their primary program in their department or school, and must be completed
before advancing to candidacy. Upon completion of the requirements, Women’s
Studies will furnish each concentrator with a letter attesting to their
basic competency in graduate work in Women’s Studies.
***Please note: The Women's Studies Programs will NOT be accepting MA
Applications for Fall of 2005*** Students must
complete 40 units, including the graduate sequence of Women’s Studies 201, 202, and 210, a research methods
course or the equivalent in a related discipline, and four units
of Women’s Studies 598, master's thesis research. Of the total units
required, 12 units must constitute a field of emphasis in the form of
graduate courses on women/gender offered by other UCLA departments or
programs. No more than four upper division
undergraduate units (typically one course) and four units of independent
study (596) may be counted toward the MA degree.
Students
must complete the 40 units for the M.A. degree. They must complete 20 additional units,
including 12 units of Women’s Studies 599, dissertation research. A
maximum of eight upper division undergraduate units may be counted toward the degree.
