The opening plenary featured a keynote address by Lillian Faderman (English).

A new travel grant program and the Jean Stone Dissertation Fellowship were established.

With assistance from CSW, the Gender and Politics Project convened a second conference, What Ever Happened to Women's Liberation: Rethinking the Origins of Contemporary Feminism, on May 3 and 4, 1991. This conference drew veteran feminist scholars and activists from around the country to share their personal experiences in the women's movement of the 1960s and 1970s.

CSW co-sponsored the conferences Women and Work: Understanding the Gender, held November 9 to 11, 1990, and Women, Work and Power in the Middle East, held on April 12 to 13, 1991.

In the fall of 1991, CSW initiated a new series of Brown Bag lunch seminars, which invited faculty engaged in research on women and gender to present their work in a more intimate and informal setting than that provided by either the Feminist Research Seminar or the Public Lecture Series. In 1991-1992, twelve faculty members led brown bag lunch seminars on varied topics.

On November 13th, 1991, the CSW hosted a publications reception and open house to honor works on women and gender published by CSW scholars. More than forty recent books, book chapters and journal articles authored by UCLA faculty, graduate students, and research affiliates were featured.
