The Faculty Curator program is a competitive grant for UCLA faculty that provides up to $5000 to fund a maximum of three presentations by outside speakers whose work pertains to the award recipient’s proposed theme. A Faculty Curator ensures that the proposed theme and speakers reflect the interests of a UCLA-based research or constituency group. CSW builds its lecture program for the Fall or Winter academic quarters around the selected rosters of speakers. The Faculty Curator program allows CSW public programming to more closely align with faculty research in various stages of development. This program also forges closer intellectual connections between UCLA faculty and scholars invited to speak at the Center. To this end, the model is to have series speakers give a lecture and participate in a workshop with UCLA faculty and graduate students.
CSW seeks applications from faculty interested in proposing a programming concentration for Fall or Winter quarter of the 2010-2011 academic year. Such a concentration might be "Women, Art, and Activism," "Trafficking, Gender, Human Rights, and Health," "Feminism, Body Theory, and Performance," or "Women, Science, and Technology." The proposed concentration should represent the research concerns of a number of scholars at UCLA.

Amount |
CSW will award from $3000 to $5000 per quarter to fund up to three presentations by outside speakers whose work pertains to the proposed programming concentration. Award monies will be used for direct costs associated with bringing in outside speakers (honoraria, travel, lodging, receptions). While those awarded faculty curatorships will be responsible for selecting the potential speakers, all other logistics of the speaker's campus visit will be arranged by CSW staff. One project will be funded per quarter.
|
Criteria |
CSW welcomes proposals from formal or informal research groups or from faculty who wish to coordinate a lecture series or workshop with a department or other research center. These faculty or faculty groups will serve as guest curators for CSW's primary programming for one quarter.
Faculty awarded grants must acknowledge the Center for the Study of Women in all public information materials and publications resulting from the grant. All Curators are required to submit a brief final report describing the outcomes of the project.
In addition, recipients will work with the Publications Unit on preparing an article for the CSW newsletter to document the events/speakers. |
