| About the Center |
The Center for the Study of Women is an internationally recognized center for research on women, gender, and sexuality, and the first organized research unit of its kind in the University of California system. Though CSW is funded by the Division of the Social Sciences, it serves the entire university. CSW is part of the Social Science’s commitment to gender equity and research parity at UCLA.
Its mission is to develop and foster research; to facilitate productive scholarly relationships; and to aid recruitment and retention efforts. Established in 1984, it draws on the expertise of 245 members from thirty-four departments and ten UCLA professional schools. The Center administers research grants for faculty and students; organizes research projects, conferences, seminars, and public lectures; and publishes a monthly web newsletter that features research, conference reports, faculty profiles, and announcements.
As part of the CSW 25th anniversary activities, we have created a short movie about the history and current activities of the center. You'll need Quicktime to view it. WATCH

| CSW Green Policy |
The Center for the Study of Women (CSW) makes a substantial effort to diminish our impact on the environment by reducing our consumption and using our resources wisely. CSW is committed to advancing sustainability in our office, at UCLA, and beyond campus. Through responsible purchasing, recycling, and energy and paper reduction, CSW has created a sustainable environment for our Center’s student and staff employees. By making small changes, it quickly became apparent that “going green” was not only easy, but also cost effective; it enables us to save resources and money simultaneously. We would be happy to give a one-time consultation for other campus units that are interested in going green.
